The faculty and staff of the
Department of Industrial, Interior and Visual Communication
Design are committed to creating an excellent educational
experience for our students, and access to technology
is a fundamental part of an OSU education in this
day and age.
To insure the optimal studio experience
in our program, we are instituting a purchase plan
that will give incoming and returning students
access to a laptop computer that has the minimum
configuration necessary to meet the needs of the
various programs. This plan provides the uniformity
of hardware and software that will serve the need
for students to use computers broadly throughout
the curriculum, and also provides the best available
price for the computer.
Students in the Design program
will be expected to purchase a laptop computer
that meets this minimum configuratiuon. This purchase
plan is available for Autumn 2006 and is recommended
for all potential majors and pre-majors.
Students in Visual Communications should buy the
Apple laptop;
students in Industrial Design should buy the Lenovo laptop
or the Apple laptop with the BootCamp software
needed to rum Windows XP; students in Interior
Design can also choose either the Apple or
the Lenovo.
Design 40 celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Department of Design with
all day and evening activities. For more information, see the Design40
